Building a Marsh Boat.

The ‘goguet’ of the marshes is a traditional flat-bottomed boat formerly used to get around, to go fishing or waterfowl hunting in the Cotentin and Bessin marshes.

You will build a boat based on the design of the traditional ‘goguet’. The various processes of assembling and cutting out will be performed using hand tools (handsaw, chisel, plane …).

 

 

 

 

 

 

PROGRAMME:
 
The stages of construction: 
- Sharpening the tools 
- Positioning the floor timbers: marking out, cutting, squaring. 
- Marking out, taking measurements and building 
- Marking out and making prow timbers. 
- Adjusting and positioning of strakes. 
- Caulking the complete boat.

 

 

One of the participants can leave with the boat built in the course of the workshop for the price of 500€ instead of the 1,000€ official retail price. If you’re interested in this option, please let us know when you sign up for the workshop. You will
